In the Hyphen
Location: Mobile Across Cleveland
In the Hyphen is a multidisciplinary creative practice, founded by Jenika Gonzales, rooted in the space between. One of her services, community, focuses on collaborative projects, partnerships, and interdisciplinary gatherings that bring creatives, brands, and cultural ideas together.
Our partner hosts elevated matcha pop-ups across Cleveland. She uses our syrups to enhance the matcha experience for her customers. This includes ube matcha, pandan matcha, and black sesame matcha.
Jenika and I go way back to 2021. We were aware of each other through overlapping circles in our communities, but never had the chance to truly connect. That changed in 2025 when we met through a networking event hosted by our friend Jing. Looking back, if it weren’t for that gathering, I don’t think I would have had the opportunity to deepen my friendship with Jenika in the way that I have.
Since then, our relationship has grown in a really meaningful way, so much so that I now get to call her Ate (ahh-teh), meaning sister in Tagalog. She was one of the people who has witnessed the evolution of hi raya! firsthand and has consistently been a source of encouragement and support for the business.
Jenika is deeply rooted in Cleveland’s creative and cultural communities, consistently exploring ways to contribute through her interests and talents. One of these expressions has been her matcha pop-ups, alongside her ongoing work in developing her own creative projects. We’re especially grateful that she has chosen to incorporate our syrups into her matcha offerings. Be sure to experience her drinks when you catch her at events around the city.
